Minds Innocent and Quite

I am very excited about updating you concerning a special project I have been developing over the past year. The painting titled “Samburu Circles” is the first of a series of 10 to 15 paintings of native people of northern Kenya I am planning to complete in the next two to three years, inspired by my visit to the region with my family in August of 2006. My project, “Painting a Brighter Future for Kenyan Women” will partner with The Boma Fund www.bomafund.org , a non-profit organization which provides relief services, tuition for education, and seed money for micro enterprise to the nomadic people and villages in northern Kenya.

I will be donating a generous amount from the sale of these paintings to the fund to specifically benefit women’s enterprises and issues. The focus of my donation will be aligned with the Boma Fund’s commitment to “working with women’s groups by supporting their pursuit of economic independence, a first step toward empowering women to make decisions that directly affect their lives and well-being, as well as the lives of their children”.

The series is planned to be reassembled at the completion of the project for an exhibition of all the artworks in Washington D.C
